  22.     Hi, all.  I'm new to LightWave and have noticed that the 3.5
  23. version (standalone) seems to be a bit buggy.  Has anyone else noticed
  24. this?  Or is it just my system?  I've got an A3000 (16MHz) w/ 10Megs
  25. RAM, 600 Megs hard disk, and an OpalVision board.  I use the FPU
  26. version.

  28.     For example, whenever I click on "View:Light" in Layout, the
  29. screen gets trashed with horizontal stripes, and the colors get all
  30. messed up.  I have to go back up and reselect the screen format for it
  31. to close, open, and redraw the whole screen.

  33.     Also, I tried using Bones in Layout, and they didn't seem to
  34. remember where I put them when I would go back to my first keyframe I
  35. created for them.  Weird!  That, and they would jump around wildly
  36. when I move to another frame that had not been set up yet.  Bizarre.

  38.     Oh, and the Modeler starts up with a slew of Enforcer hits.
  39. So much so that I have turned off Enforcer.  :-(

  41.     Has anyone else noticed problems like these?  These seem to be
  42. rather major, and makes me wonder if the professionals just know what
  43. to avoid or if my system is messed up.

  45.     Oh, and while I'm here, are there any excellent tutorial-like
  46. books on LightWave?  I watched the "Lightwave Essentials" video, and
  47. it was good.  I've read through (and done, as much as possible) the
  48. tutorials in the LW manual, but I'm left feeling that I don't really
  49. know enough yet to crank out the animation in my head.  Plus, in
  50. several of the later tutorials, the descriptions became more and more
  51. terse to the point where I didn't know how to perform the action in
  52. question, and couldn't find a reference to it previously.
